In 1820, aged 19 years old, William Nelstrop crossed the Pennines from the family’s farm in Ackworth, Yorkshire and founded Nelstrops flour millers in Stockport, Cheshire where the mill still stands today.

From delivering flour by horse and cart, receiving sacks of grain along the Stockport canal and milling under steam power, the Nelstrops mill has lived through local history. Its traditions live on, and is still proudly run today as an independent family business by the sixth generation of the Nelstrop family.

Nelstrops flours have won the highest awards in the food and drink industry… After a long history of only making flours for craft bakers and chefs, Nelstrops are now making their flours available in retail sized bags for the homebaker.

Since their recent launch, Nelstrops flours have already won three 3 Star Golds and five 2 Star Golds in the Great Taste Awards, making them the highest awarded flours ever entered in the Great Taste Awards. Using only the finest wheats from Cheshire and from around the world, and a relentless focus on taste and quality, Nelstrops flour add something a little special to your home baking.
