1kg Self-raising flour
For fruit scones add 200g of sultanas
For cherry scones add 300g glacé cherries
For cheese scones add 100g of grated mature cheddar cheese
Place the self raising flour, salt, sugar and butter into a mixing bowl and crumble ingredients together.
Add the milk gradually and mix to a smooth dough. Depending on the kind of scones you are making add sultanas, glacé cherries or cheese knead into a ball and roll out to 1/2 inch thick and cut into rounds. Brush scones with beaten egg and place on a baking tray.
Bake in a preheated oven at 450°F/ 230°C (Gas 7/8) for 12-15 minutes.
